Certifications and Licenses
I am fully licensed to provide daycare services by the state of Michigan. To be state certified, a provider must:
Hold a current certification for adult, child, and infant CPR/AED/first-aid
Have completed training in the prevention of blood-borne pathogens
Have completed training in infant safe sleep practices
Have completed training in recognition of abuse/neglect
Have completed a 6-hour state orientation course
Complete 10 clock hours of training in early childhood development and education each year.
Have the following inspections completed in the home where care is provided; radon, water heater, furnace, septic, and water quality
Have completed a TB test and fingerprinting/background check on all members of the household
Have a signed medical clearance by a licensed physician
Have a functioning fire extinguisher
Have a working smoke detector on each floor
Have a carbon monoxide detector
Have a posted evacuation and care plan for various emergency situations
Have a written discipline policy
I also have a substitute teacher certificate and 4 years of experience teaching in a state-certified preschool setting in a public school. I have also received letters of recommendation from the teachers of those programs (see below). My mother has been fully involved in the planning and implementation of this daycare setting. She will continue to assist me with the daycare. She has a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, a master’s degree in special education, and 31 years of experience teaching children ages 6 months to 6 years old.
